About Me...
|
|

Howdy Friends,
I guess I should tell you a little about me, since most
of you do not know me. I live in Northwest Montana with
my husband, Don, one crazy cat, and lots of outside
animal friends, many of whom you will meet here and on
future pages. I have two married sons, and five grandchildren,
which two just happen to be twins. I love everything creative and
crafty. Of course, my biggest passion is for knitting by
machine or hand!
Oh, the trials! I have had many try to teach me to knit
over the years, but somehow those two needles had a mind
of their own. I tried at the early age of six, no luck,
but I could crochet and sew, I tried at the age of
eleven, no way, again, at eighteen, nothing. You get the
picture! I loved knitted things, but just could not make
them. Then at, never mind what age, it was just before
our first son was born I had a little success, I was not
working, so took a couple of lessons at my favorite yarn
shop. I was so happy. I was knitting! I started a
sweater for me and a vest for Don, but they were doomed,
when the baby came, my knitting got put on the shelf.
Well, thirty odd years later, at the urging of a friend,
I picked up those two needles and finished that sweater
I had started. It fit me to a tee, and it was not
because the gauge was perfect, I had grown! Moreover,
the vest for my husband, well, I ripped it out,
designed, and knitted a Gansey for our youngest son! He
thought it was the greatest thing, because the yarn was
much older then he. I love designing and knitting, but
with two needles, just could not keep up with my active
brain. Therefore, I bought my first knitting machine, a
Bond, and you all had better not be laughing, I loved
that little machine. Boy, could I see my finished
designs fast. Then I took a giant step up to my Passap
E6000, that was in 1997, and it has been no stopping me
since! But wait a minute, you all might know me, my
Montana Snowpeople and my Double Wedding Ring patterns
were published in "Machine Knitters Source".
Thank you for stopping by and getting to know me,
Kathie

I know that this may be a tad different, but I would
like to dedicate my Web Site to three very special
ladies in my life. Without them this site would not be
possible, my heartfelt thanks to you all.
First, to Janell Brawmer of the "Afghan_Queens",
who spent many hours helping me and patiently answered
all my questions, then giving me permission to copy the
format of her Pattern books, and for encouraging me to
make my patterns available to everyone.
To Rita Ehrhart of "Knits by Rita", who sold
me, my Passap, then taught me how to use the knitting
machine, and to Tommy, her husband, who taught me how to
make biscuits and sausage gravy!
And finally, to Marie Day, who went home to be with the
Lord on July 12, 2003, the machine knitting world lost a
good teacher and I lost a truly wonderful friend.
She taught me all she knew about knitting and about
life.
